Insurance Glossary

Insurance can be thought of as a provision for protection against harm or loss that an individual may encounter. An insurance company offers coverage to the client in exchange for a premium or payment. By paying a premium with an insurance company, the insurance company is then agreeing to pay you a specified amount when unfortunate events arise. The insurance policy is a written agreement between the insurance company (also known as the insurer) and the individual or organization (also known as the insured) which spells out what will be covered by the insurance company. The policy explains the terms and conditions and will also specify what exact risks will be covered by the policy.

Unfortunately, we cannot predict exactly what will happen to us and when. By investing in insurance before a undesirable health or life event occurs, we are not only investing in the safety of our own personal bottom lines, but we are also investing in peace of mind for ourselves and our loved ones.

There are many types of insurance available today. Each type of insurance policy falls into one of the groups listed below:
Property
Casualty
Life Insurance and Annuities
Health
